The Department of Diagnostic Imaging of the Parma Hospital has chosen Clinika for an innovative project designed to assess the parameters for prescription appropriateness of radiology examinations in the area of emergency-urgency crossed with the determination of report results. (The analysis focused on abdominal ultrasound, an examination that requires the presence of a dedicated 24 × 7 operator and more time than other types of examinations).
The initiative had the dual objective of improving the degree of prescription appropriateness and determining the polarity of the reports (Positive, Negative, Uncertain) in order to measure the incidence of non-positive urgent examinations and collect useful information for workload reduction evaluations. The initiative generated information that was useful for improved management of the level of request urgency and a more appropriate use of resources; this has made it possible to avoid production increases and therefore enable significant curbing of costs.
